We are delighted to have successfully hosted the first of our live series of events on November 8th: A HR Business Leaders Forum on Diversity, Equality and Inclusion in the Workplace. Looking ahead, we are excited to host more events, featuring accomplished and compelling keynote speakers, that spark meaningful conversations and foster a community of informed and engaged professionals. We'll be considering the quality of working life alongside broader topics like sustainability and environmentally friendly business practices.
After months of anticipation and meticulous planning, the evening we'd all been eagerly awaiting finally arrived. November graced us with a surprisingly warm evening, perfect for an event filled with sparkling conversations and bubbly drinks! As guests arrived at the venue, they were greeted with a vibrant atmosphere. The room buzzed with energy, with each conversation a chance to network with like-minded professionals. Frankie Devadason, head of our HR Recruitment division and organiser of this event, was supported by the entire White Horse team, ready to welcome everyone to our very first event – and what a turnout it was!
It was a night designed for connection, insight, and inspiration, set in the stunning Glove Factory Studios in Holt, home to White Horse's offices. The room was filled with cosy sofas and inviting tables and chairs, an ideal setup for small group discussions, fostering an intimate and engaging environment.
The highlight of the evening was our special guest and keynote speaker, Jen Reid, a renowned activist whose influential actions during the Black Lives Matter protests in Bristol garnered widespread attention. Jen's presence was a beacon of inspiration. Her talk, derived from her experiences as a BLM activist, TV presenter, educator, and author of "A Hero Like Me," was very well received by everyone attending. Her insights on empowering change in our workplaces were not only enlightening but also deeply moving.
White Horse Directors Sarah Glover and Stephen McCraith expressed their delight at the event's success. "We're incredibly proud of Frankie for organising such a memorable evening, and the team for being such a huge support on the night. We couldn't have asked for a more compelling speaker than Jen for our first event. It's great to see White Horse leading discussions on crucial topics like diversity, equality, and inclusion. The future looks bright, and we're thrilled to be at the forefront of influencing positive change in the recruitment world," they said.
The feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive. Mathew Bates, Recruitment Partner, shared, “A big thank you to White Horse Employment for their generous hospitality at their recent Diversity, Equality and Inclusion event – super informative and thought provoking with speaker Jen Reid really bringing the topic to life – looking forward to future events.”
Lisa Bower, HR Business Partner, also expressed her appreciation, noting, “I really enjoyed the event. It provided a platform for open dialogue and insights on real-life experiences, which goes towards advocating for positive change for diversity and inclusion.”
