Reflecting on Another Successful Event | Live Series Session 2 - The Power of Psychological Safety

Posted 24 April 2024

We are thrilled to share the exciting news of another successful live event hosted by White Horse. On the 18th April, we gathered once again to explore new horizons and ignite meaningful conversations within our community of professionals. After weeks of anticipation and meticulous planning, the day finally arrived for our second live event. The atmosphere was electric as attendees poured into the Glove Factory Studios, eager to engage with fellow industry leaders and gain fresh perspectives on how to create high performing teams.

The evening commenced with a warm welcome from our very own Sarah Glover, and Co-Create’s Andy Caldwell, setting the tone for what was to be an evening of discovery and connection. With all 60 event tickets sold out, the energy in the room was palpable, buzzing with excitement and anticipation.

Insightful Discussions:

The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the thought-provoking discussions led by our esteemed speaker, Margaret Heffernan. She delved deep into the intricacies of psychological safety, offering invaluable insights and practical strategies for creating transformative organisations worldwide. Attendees have mentioned how captivated they were by Margaret’s depth of knowledge and passion. For a lot of our attendees, it was the first step to understanding how psychological safety starts out as simply as feeling confident to speak up in a situation, safe in the knowledge that you will be heard. To be a great leader in a psychologically safe workplace, you must be aware of your own defences, your triggers, your responses - and know how and when to manage them. We certainly hope to have left event attendees inspired and empowered to enact positive change within their respective organisations.

For those interested in finding out more about Psychological Safety, particularly from the viewpoint of our speaker Margaret Heffernan, we'd advise reading her book, Wilful Blindness.

Networking Opportunities:

In addition to the enlightening presentation by Margaret, the event provided ample opportunities for networking and collaboration. Attendees seized the chance to connect with like-minded professionals, forging new relationships and exchanging ideas that will undoubtedly shape the future of what success looks like.

Feedback and Reflections:

The feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to participate in such a transformative event. These sentiments are a testament to the impact of our events and reaffirm our commitment to fostering a community of informed and empowered professionals.

Natasha Laver, People Manager at Bristol Airport, remarked, "I'm so pleased that I took the opportunity to join this event. Certainly caused me to consider, challenge myself and reflect on this topic which I will be taking back to the team! It wasn’t lost on me that the venue and food was worth the visit too!”

As we reflect on the success of our second live event, we are filled with gratitude for the continued support of our attendees and partners.

White Horse Employment remains steadfast in our mission to spark meaningful conversations around forward thinking topics, and foster a community of informed and engaged professionals dedicated to improving the quality of working life.
